Name:Amada Ontiveros
Website:<< Can You Feel It? >>
Bio:

| Just the Facts |
Real Name: Amada Calixta Ontiveros

Nicknames/Aliases: Calix [alias in the art world]

Species: Metahuman – Fire Mage

Gender: Female

Age: 32

Date of Birth: March 22nd

Physical Description: Exotic would be the key word in describing Amada. She stands at just 5’7”, form long and lean but possessing more than a healthy dose of curves. Her waist is small, well defined before it flows into endlessly long legs, lush hips, a derriere that deserves a description all its own. Her stomach is flat, softly lined with just enough muscle to be lean without loosing its femininity, her chest a bit smaller than she would have liked – though what she lacks in size is made up in both shape and lack of gravitational effects. Her hair is a rich brown, sometimes lightened to a honey shade that plays perfectly off of the caramel tones of her flawless skin. Often layered to rest just past her shoulders, her hair frames a face set with high cheekbones, full lips a shade darker than a simply perfect, pale pink. Her eyes are framed by thick, dark lashes and naturally arched brows, a stunning whiskey brown in color

Unique Features:
- A beauty mark above the corner of her mouth on the left side
- A black script tattoo that arcs over the curve of her pelvic bone on her inner hip, just below the waist of her pants, which reads ‘Zane’

Birth Location: Barcelona, Spain

Blood Family:
- Almudena Deyas Ontiveros {mother, deceased}
- Hector Elijah Ontiveros {father, presumably deceased in the virus}
- Diana Ida Maria Ontiveros-Logan {sister, presumably deceased in the virus}
- Josef Mikael Logan {brother-in-law, presumably deceased in the virus}
- Garrett and Grayson Logan {twin nephews, presumably deceased in the virus}

Residence:
- Currently: The water bungalows – Elysium
- Formerly: East 90s – the Gracie Mansion area (Manhattan)

Residing With: Her boyfriend, Zane Smith

Profession(s) Held: Artist

Employment: Sells her art independently

Physical Strengths:
- Agile – quick on her feet
- Fast – tries to run everyday
- Defense – not much of a fighter, but knows basic self defense

Physical Weaknesses:
- Has average human strength – can be overpowered
- Water – her opposing element
- Disease/injury typical to humans

Magical Abilities: Amada can control fire and propel it through the air by summoning it through her hands. She also has the ability to alter the shape a flame takes, turning it into various objects to defend herself or lash out against another. The smaller the object, the easier it is for her to maintain – alternately, the large it is, the more energy it drains from her and shorter the amount of time she can maintain it.

Personal Skills & Training:
- Is a fantastic cook – especially of Latin/South American food
- A skilled salsa dancer
- Amazing artist – mainly: photography, sculpture, oil and multi-media work

Personal Weaknesses:
- Zane
- Children
- Animals
- Spicy food

| In-Depth |
Personality: Amada is the definition of a vibrant spirit. She always seems to laugh just a little too loud – and is one to usually crack a joke at the most inappropriate of times. Innately playful, she has a strong, feisty demeanor and definitely isn’t afraid of speaking her mind. She can be quick to anger, but has a genuinely good heart that often has her being the first to apologize to anyone she’s had a disagreement with. She loves a good time and is always the first person willing to go out and try something new. Headstrong, stubborn, passionate, competitive, slightly jealous…all words that can be used to describe that fiery side of her personality.

But, like all things, Amada has more than one side. She can also be extremely serious when the situation calls for it, a woman who is often governed by her emotions. She loves children, a product of the softer, more compassionate side of her. She enjoys making others feel better in any way that she can, whether it be embarrassing herself to solicit a bout of laughter, offering up a shoulder for them to cry on or simply listening to their stories. Witty, intelligent and sarcastically funny, Amada’s personality spans a wide variety of traits.

History: Born and raised in Barcelona, Spain, much of Amada’s early life centered around the beach. The town, which resides on the Baltic Sea coast, was an idyllic place to raise children. Her parents were both hard workers – her mother a teacher of English at a local school, her father (ironically) was a firefighter for the local precinct. It was with Hector that Amada shared a gift which set her apart from other children her age. She’d always been inexplicably drawn to fire, but not in a manner that frightened her mother – no, it wasn’t the dangerous curiosity of a child but rather the quiet respect of someone who understood the power of what they were seeing. When her mother died of cancer when Amada was only a teenager, it would be this natural affinity for the flame that would bond she and her father closer still.

A trait common to his side of the family, Hector explained that she was what was know as a fire mage, someone capable of creating and controlling fire via their hands. It was an amazing revelation, one that explained the draw she’d always felt towards flames. She was in high school when her father began to train her as best he could in the finer points of being a mage. He helped Amada with her control, her creation ability and how to prevent flames from flaring up unexpectedly.

Their work continued until Amada left to attend university in Madrid. It was there that her love of art was truly kindled and where she decided that it was what she would pursue in her professional life. She took classes to train herself in all the mediums, from watercolor to live installations, but found her greatest loves to be of a more classic nature. Her first year exhibition consisted of oils on canvas, clay sculpture, photography and mixed-media art – it was this combination that she had continued to work with even in her contemporary pieces.

She graduated with a bachelor’s degree in art the same year her sister, Diana, got married. It was a good year for the Ontiveros girls…each was beginning an exciting new chapter in their life. After serving as her sister’s maid of honor, Amada announced that she’d been accepted as a master’s student at NYU; she intended to apply for a Visa and move to the U.S. to get a graduate degree in art history and to further her work there.

America was so unlike Madrid, even less like Barcelona – the pace of everything was so fast it astounded her. She fell in love with NYU, was sucked into the intensity of her classes, drowning in the abundance of art – it seemed to be everywhere in the city. During her final semester, she was chosen as a ‘Student to Exhibit,’ a great honor that meant the Metropolitan Museum of Art would, for one month, display ten of her pieces. In addition to the chance of a lifetime display, an opening night gala would be held to honor her and the two other students chosen. It was a night that signaled her arrival into the art world, that put her name on the map in a way that she had never expected.

Of course, her new found ‘fame’ wasn’t the only unexpected occurrence of the night. In a moment of pure chance she found herself discussing her own work with a rather striking gentleman that introduced himself as Zane Smith. He was extremely handsome and funnier than anyone had a right to be and she was instantly attracted. Luckily for Amada, it seemed that he was too. A spark was lit that night that soon bloomed into a young relationship, the pair obviously taken with one another.

No one expected the two to last, not really. Zane was a doctor, a pediatric surgeon who understandably spent much of his time at the hospital, and artists were seen as crazy in general. Amada had a hot temper at times and wasn’t afraid of telling Zane when she was upset, though things always seemed to work out. They made time for one another when they could and little gestures ensured that each knew how the other felt: for their two year anniversary, Zane gave her a key and asked her to move in with him. In return, for his birthday that same year, she had his name inked to her skin in an elegant tattoo. The two were in love and it was more than obvious to everyone around them.

Amada and Zane had settled into a nice little bout of domesticity when the virus hit, taking Manhattan and the rest of the world by storm. At the time, Amada had been working as a installation coordinator at a local independent gallery, painting in her free time and Zane had been hard at work establishing himself as a Pediatric Surgeon of great skill. The hysteria that came in the wake of the virus made it impossible for Amada to contact her father or her sister’s family, leaving her clueless as to whether they had fallen ill or swept away to somewhere safe. Rumors spread like wildfire of places where people could go to be safe, areas of the world that seemed protected against the deadly illness for one reason or another. As Zane took extra shifts to work in the hospital lab, Amada knew it was only a matter of time before she lost him as well.

Taking what she knew to be true of the rumors, she started searching for places she’d heard mention in passing. Through a rather sketchy underground source, she managed to learn a bit of Elysium…enough to convince her that it was a place where she and Zane could be safe – if only she could get him to go. It took her nearly two weeks to convince him, to plead with him to leave with her, to go somewhere together where they could be safe. She loved that he wanted to stay and help, but there seemed to be nothing anyone could do. Perhaps it was selfish of her, but she couldn’t lose him too. Finally, he agreed and the two set off for Elysium.

Once arrived, they settled into the water bungalows – a home near the water was (strangely) where Amada felt most comfortable given that she’d been raised near it. Still not her favorite element by any means, the chance to look out over it daily provides some sort of calming tie to home. For now, she waits for some sort of word as to whether or not any of her family has survived…it seems like a long shot even to her, but she can’t help but hope. And even though she lived through the initial onslaught of the virus, it seems to have killed her ability to create; as such, emotions are left to swell inside without the chance for expulsion. Circumstances have made her cling tighter to Zane, made her terrified of losing him as well. Together the couple continue to work on adjusting to their new life in Elysium, to hoping for the best in spite of the worst.
